E.M.D.R.(Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

E.M.D.R. is a psychotherapy used in the treatment of psychological problem from depression to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It has been recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) as one of two treatments for PTSD, but its use is more widely spread than this.

Trauma is any event that has had a lasting negative effect on a person’s life. Often clients may not have connected their present problems with past memories, but these memories may be hindering their ability to get on with their present life.

EMDR looks at the roots of these problems and the negative beliefs a client has about themselves. By reprocessing these beliefs it is possible to change them from negative to positive beliefs allowing the client to live a more fulfilled and positive life.

EMDR supervision available.
