Clinical Hypnosis

Have you heard of ‘highway hypnosis’? It’s when you are driving along and your mind wanders on to something else. The next thing you know you’ve reached your destination. Most people have this experience of doing some activity and their mind being on something else. It’s natural hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a gentle, pleasant altered state of consciousness. It is a mentally and physically relaxing experience during which positive suggestions can be made to your unconscious mind. Your unconscious mind is that part of your mind that takes care of you; it controls your body temperature, controls the enzymes that break down your food etc, without you consciously being aware of it.

Where hypnosis is used to treat pain or medical conditions a referral from a G.P. will be needed.

All patients are given a CD with their hypnosis session recorded on it and clients find that daily use gives them additional support both during their treatment and after.

I am one of only a few people in the UK who specialise in hypnosis for neuropathic pain – see research page.
